Speaker Spotlight: Yannick Chevillon, Postal Stock Exchange

Ahead of the World Mail & Express Asia (WMX Asia) Conference in Hong Kong, we caught up with Yannick Chevillon, CEO at the Postal Stock Exchange. Yannick will be speaking at WMX Asia 2019 and offers his thoughts on the conference and the future of the industry.

WMX – Tell us a little bit about yourself and your company.

YC – I am the founder of Postal Stock Exchange, the first and unique real stock exchange for Post and Parcels.

WMX – What will you be speaking about at WMX Asia this year?

YC – I will present our platform to Asia and try to convince the need to work in a strong network.

WMX – What do you hope our delegates will take away from your presentation?

YC – That there is a worldwide network which is growing with the most important rates database in the world.

WMX – How has the post and parcel industry changed in the past 5 years? What do you predict will happen in the next 5 to 10 years?

YC – The Postal industry (Post Offices) has started to understand that they can be a major actor for e-commerce and parcel distribution. I guess that in the next 5 to 10 years, Postal administrations will understand that they can distribute in the last mile with more efficiency and profitability than all integrators, especially in country area. If they can increase the quality of services and adapt to the requirements of the integrators, they could become the key players of the last mile as a subcontractor of the giants of the parcel distribution.

WMX – What are the most critical changes that we must make to face the future effectively?

YC – Probably, the quality of communication to customers. I don’t think that people are looking only for rapidity but customers are asking better pro-active communication to know where is the parcel and specifically when it will be delivered. I am sure that people prefer to choose the moment of delivery than the quickest delivery.

WMX – What is the most interesting trend for 2019?

YC – The most interesting trend is delivery by drone. Even if I don’t think that it will be the future, technically, it is amazing and I am curious about the technology but also by the way that this will integrate all legal obligations.

WMX – How can postal organisations adapt in the face of falling mail volumes? Can they compete with new industry disruptors and faster-moving global operators?

YC – Postal organisations are the key of last mile deliveries, becoming suppliers of private carriers. They should increase profits in their networks by delivering more and more parcels. Talking with major players, the costs to catch new customers are cheaper by direct marketing mail than by internet. So, they are now considering, all communication channel by integrating mailing campaigns:  good news for postal organisations!

Yannick will be speaking at the World Mail & Express Asia Conference 2019. WMX Asia is taking place at the Mira Hong Kong (15 – 17 September 2019). Visit www.wmxasia.com for more information.
